The next level of ministry

This weekend, Mariamu and I started what I think will become the next level of children's ministry at each village. We joined Pastor Aliseni out at TX to visit some of the children in our children's church. We brought a basketful of pineapples to pass out as gifts to the different families.

It gave me a whole new perspective to see what kind of homes and families these kids come from. For example, I learned that Seba and Shiloli are brothers, that Agnes and all of her brothers and sisters lost their dad last December, and that Mariasana and Elisha's father is an alcoholic. At church I would have never known. A good reminder of the importance for teachers to "go the extra mile" and do home visits whenever possible.

Praise the Lord, 4 people were saved too! Seba and Shiloli's mother and 2 older siblings, and Charles's father.

Another blessing... 3 of our kids, Seba, Pendo, and Elisha memorized the whole of Psalm 23. I gave out copies of Psa 23 (How can children memorize Scripture when no one has a Bible?) and said when we return in 6 months or so, those who have memorized it will receive a gift (a Bible). Obviously, for 3 kids I didn't give them a hard enough task! They got 'er memorized in 6 days!!
