A merry heart doeth good...

I had a special visit the last 10 days from my mom! She flew to OH from CO for some good mother- daughter laughs. :-) We traveled, laughed, ate, giggled, went to Amish country, and laughed some more. :-) I think we've got the same sense of humor... no one else may appreciate it, but we had a ball anyway. :-)

We spent one day at the new Creation Museum near Cincinnati. Wow...first class exhibits! The next day we went to the Newport Aquarium and enjoyed observing God's marvelous and sometimes humorous creative genius. :-) Have you ever heard of a matamata turtle?

July/ August prayer letter

Dear Friends and Family,

Praise the Lord with me ... my support level has gone from 22% to 37% since the last prayer letter!! Yee-haw!!!

July and August have been very busy months of traveling. I made six weekend trips to churches around Ohio, traveled to eastern PA for a VBS (where the penny offering will pay for my entire plane ticket to Tanzania!), and visited several churches in VA. I also got to work at another camp for a week and led a high school student to the Lord!

These have also been exciting months for me as a tourist. I got to eat a genuine Philly cheese steak and see the liberty bell in Philadelphia, smell chocolate in the air in Hershey, and walk the hills of Valley Forge. The highlight was definitely my day and a half in Washington, D.C.!! What a glorious heritage we have! As the Korean War Memorial declares, “Freedom is not free.” So many have sacrificed family, health, or their very life for our freedom! Freedom from sin is not free either!! Oh, thank you, our precious Lord, for Your sacrifice for us undeserving wretches!!

The next few months I have meetings in OH, TN, NC, and FL. Pray for God’s traveling mercies, and for His leading as I share in each church!

Praise the Lord, my winter schedule is filling up! Please pray for the same for the spring schedule and wisdom for how far into the summer to schedule meetings. My goal is to move to Tanzania next summer!! Also, continue to pray for 44% by Oct 1st. By God’s grace I’m on my way!!

Thank you to many who gave so generously the past few months! Because of you, the burned out lamp in my projector is replaced. Pray that I would receive my full refund from the first company that filed bankruptcy! Also, the air conditioner in my car is fixed, and I’ve never been in need of money for gas or bills!

Swahili update: These busy days I have a Swahili lesson by telephone a couple times a month. Here’s a few “heavenly” words for you to know when you come visit me in Tanzania! ☺ God: Mungu, Jesus Christ: Yesu Kristo, Heaven: Mbingu, cross: msalaba, sin: dhambi, faith: imani.

Pressing on in His love,
Lisa

Recent Meetings

I haven't been a tourist only these last few weeks. Here's a look at the deputation side of my life:

Wed., Aug 8- Chilhowie Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Herrell
My first church where the work in Tanzania is already well-known. They support both the Wagoners (Bro Greg and Paige grew up under his preaching!) and the Brouwers; and Pastor Chuck has been to TZ! While helping with Scripture collating the next morning, I discovered there's some pretty crazy people in that church!! :-)

Sun., Aug 12- Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Pittman and Pastor Mims
I still get a bit nervous when sharing in front of large churches. I quoted Rm 6:23 in Swahili, but -ooops!-blanked out on the English!! :-) The lights also started dimming for no reason while I was talking. I'm so glad that God does not expect perfection...that He uses us anyway!!! :-)

Sun. Aug 19am- Calvary Bible Church with Pastor Alan Blackwood
Again, had some technical difficulties while trying to use a borrowed projector. The Lord knows how to keep us humble! Thank you for your patience, CBC!

Sun., Aug 19pm- Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Luther
It was great to see a former student here. The world is becoming smaller and smaller!

Sun., Aug 26- Lima Baptist Temple with Pastor Dan Wigton
What?...a meeting without problems? Just lots of driving that day- 2 1/2 hrs there and then back again in one day.

Also this month I renewed my CPR and First aid certification, enjoyed a weekend of family at the wedding festivities of my sister-in-law's brother (did you get that?),and went with the LCCA staff and high school students to Camp Peniel for a week of crazy games and powerful preaching!

Whew!

Washington, D.C.

Flags around the Wash Mon.jpg

Oh beautiful for spacious skies...

How I love my country!! For a day and a half, with the help of some dear new friends, I got to explore our capitol city. I saw...
the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown,
the Enola Gay, Spirit of St. Louis, and the Wright Flyer at the Air & Space Museums,
the original Constitution and Bill of Rights and the National Archives,
the White House and Capitol Building,
the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial,
the Holocaust Museum and the World War II Memorial, and
the Vietnam wall and the Korean War Memorial.

And to end the amazing day, I got to hear the U.S. Army band perform the 1812 Overture (complete with four booming cannons) while sitting under the Washington Monument! :-)

We have such a RICH heritage! Many men and women have done great things and sacrificed MUCH for the sake of this glorious United States!

...America, America, God shed His grace on Thee! And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!

A Coloradan's Perspective, part 2

The adventure continues...

Did you know that Southern VA and Northern VA are two different worlds? The language is different (I couldn't find a Southern drawl anywhere!) and the lifestyle is different (at least around DC with its 8- and sometimes 10- lane highways and underground metro).

The people, however, I found to be warm and friendly in both worlds, so there must be common ancestors in the family tree somewhere!!! :-)
