Black Friday

I can no longer say that I've never been one of those crazy people who gets in line to shop the Friday after Thanksgiving! At 3:40am I found myself in line behind 60 other people waiting for Circuit City's doors to open at 5:00am. I had spent the last week researching projectors (to show my dvd in churches) with the help of a computer guy at church. Circuit City had an ad for an incredible deal on a good quality projector. We've all seen the news though. Those early morning shoppers can get rather crazy. Was it safe? I couldn't find anyone who was crazy enough to join me, but I was kind of in the the mood for an adventure. :-) So... there I was with gloves and scarf hoping it would be worth it. An hour and a half later the line had grown by at least several hundred. The doors opened. Employees had previously passed out maps of the store, but I must not have studied it enough because I walked right by the projector display. Within ten minutes though I was walking out of Circuit City (away from the chaos) with projector in hand, the only one they had in stock!!

I asked several to pray that I would find a good quality projector for a good price. Thank you for praying!! What was regularly $1,000 I paid less than half for. Our God delights to show His power through specific prayer requests!! PTL!

Happy Thanksgiving!

What a blessing to have a holiday in our country to set aside time to give thanks for all of our blessings....and how empty Thanksgiving must be for those who do not know their Creator! To whom do they give thanks? Truly: "In Him we live, and move, and have our being." Acts 17:28 As the hymn says:

Without Him I could do nothing.
Without Him I'd surely fail.
Without Him I would be drifting,
Like a ship without a sail.

Jesus, Oh Jesus
Do you know Him today?
Please don't turn Him away.
Oh Jesus, Oh Jesus
Without Him how lost I would be.

Hope your Thanksgiving is a glorious time of remembrance for all that God has done for you!

First Meetings

My DVD was finished three days ago and I've already gotten to share it in two churches and a high school chapel! First, I was in a newly planted church in Pataskala, Oh, Crossroads Baptist Church. They average 30-40 people each week and I was their first missionary! That was such a comfort since it was my first meeting. :-) That evening I got to share my burden in my home church, Newark Baptist Temple. Hopefully that will be the most nerve wracking meeting I have. There's something about sharing with those who know you very well! :-) Both meetings went wonderfully!

As all the details come together for deputation, I feel like I'm just along for the ride. God is working, He is making things happen and burdening people's heart to give, and all my needs are being met. It takes away a lot of the anxiety of it all, remembering that this is God's work and I'm just along for the ride!! PTL!

DVD Presentation

My DVD is done!! It was so exciting to watch it come together. Certain songs that I randomly picked, fit perfectly! Certain pictures that I thought might work enhanced the script wonderfully which was also written with no previous "script-writing" experience. It is a tribute to God's handiwork in the "small" areas of our lives!! PTL! Thanks also goes to many friends who helped revise and record the script. Thank you Greg Wagoner, Bill Brouwer, Arnie Egeler, Andrew Newland, and JD Gunter. Thank you especially Andrew Doan for working every spare minute on the DVD last week!!

Have you ever been hit- almost overwhelmed- by the reality of something? I had a serious "reality smack" as we were putting the DVD together. I had grown up watching these missionary presentations and now I had my own? Aaaugh!!!! It didn't last long, but I don't think the reality that I'm now a career missionary has truly sunk in.
