Witnessing to Matias

TammySoulwinningCropped.jpg
Tammy witnessing to Matias yesterday while on church visitation in Igoma.

You know some days you just don't want to do what you are supposed to! Yesterday was such a day for me. I was tired, behind on homeschool, and my back hurt. We had a full afternoon planned of teaching at Jacaranda School, soul-winning, and Wednesday church service at Independent Baptist Church of Igoma. I struggled with my flesh and went despite my feelings.

I sure am glad I did!! Bill was able to lead a young man to Christ. Then Lisa Newland and I both had the opportunity to share the Gospel with some ladies and an elderly man. They did not accept Christ, but did ask us to return and share more with them. Please pray for Matias, Rehema, Lucia, Mariamu, and Pendo to accept Christ during our next visit.

shaking hands

In the churches that we work with it is common that after church we form a circle in front of the church. It is also common that the girls bow (just a short dip) to the elders of the church. We would say shikamoo as a sign of respect (which means: I bow down and kiss your feet). Can you find me in this picture?

Alarm Clock

I'm not sure why, but here in Mwanza we have a city wide alarm clock. Each morning at about 6:15AM the power goes out. This immediately wakes us up since the fan goes out with it. It is out for approximately 30 minutes. Not sure why this is, but it sure does wake me up every morning! Although it might be nice if the alarm went off a bit later on Saturdays! ;o)

Bees, bats, and bugs

That pretty much sums up our plagues since we've been back in Tanzania! It's been one thing after the next!! Well we fought back this week with a full house extermination. We basically had the house fumigated!
Two guys showed up at the house with motorized tanks on their backs, gloves, and fumigation masks. They meant business!!! After they sprayed we were banned from the house for three hours. After which we came home and opened all the windows and then promptly left again for another two hours.
The smell has dissipated, although the mess has not. They told Tammy she cannot mop the floors until Monday. It's driving her crazy! However, we are more than willing to deal with this small inconvenience to be rid of our nuisances!

Saved, saved, saved!

We have had the joy of leading many children to Christ in the month of September. These are the students we have been teaching every week for three years at Jacaranda Academy. What a blessing to see what we have been teaching finally take hold in their hearts!

Scott, a recent guest of ours was able to lead about 15 children to the Lord a few weeks ago. Tammy led two girls to Christ, and I most recently saw 25 make decisions. This is fruit from many hours of teaching the basics. These children come from many backgrounds, including Muslim. Therefore, we have taken it slow and made sure they fully understand the truths of God's Word. These decisions remind us not to grow weary in well doing because in due season we will reap if we don't faint! That goes for you too!!
