Sept/Oct Prayer Letter

The following verses from the book of Acts give us the biblical basis and purpose of our furlough ministry: "And thence sailed (Paul and Barnabas) to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled. And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles" (Acts 14:26-27).

Following Paul's example, we have had the blessing of bringing a report to our supporting churches of all that God has done through our church-planting ministry in East Africa. We have had the privilege of being in 17 churches in September and October. Most of these churches have been supporting churches. It has been a joy to see our faithful supporting pastors along with the dear members of their churches. It has been a taste of heaven as we have renewed old acqaintances and have shared sweet fellowship with those whom we will spend eternity with. We are trusting that God will use us to be a blessing to these dear churches.

We continue to receive encouraging reports from our churches in Kenya and Tanzania. We have entrusted these dear believers to the Lord, and we pray that they will continue to grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have had one sad bit of news from the church at Fumagira. One of our young preacher-boys has fallen into the sin of immorality. Please pray for this dear brother to repent of his sin, so that he may be restored to fellowship with this church. His name is Pasi. Other than this issue, the churches seem to be doing well. Please continue to pray for the Weekly family as they oversee these works in our absence and as they continue to learn the language of Swahili.

Please pray for our safety as we travel many miles visiting churches across America. Also, please pray that churches would be stirred for missions and that God would call laborers as we share our burden for East Africa.

We deeply appreciate your faithful prayer and financial support.
